Economic Law School
The School of Economic Law was founded in 1985 as the Department of Economic Law. And it was renamed as the School of Economic Law in 2003. It obtained the authority to confer LLM degrees in 1984, LLM in Environmental Law in 2001 and PhD degrees in 2003.

It aims at nurturing versatile professionals who develop themselves morally, academically and proficient in both law and economics.

During the past eighteen years, the school's mission to impart knowledge and educate people has been embodied in every aspect of administration and the school has brought up more than 3,000 talents in the fields of judicature, management and law service for the society.

In recent years, the School of Economic Law has been appraised as "Outstanding School of the University".

ome of its classes have also been awarded the title of "Advanced Collectivity in Shanghai" and "National Advanced Collectivity" for many times.

The students participate in various social activities and have obtained honor titles many times. Papers written by students are often on the top of lists of the various students¡¯ scientific research awards in or out of the university.

The school boasts an excellent faculty of more than 40 staff, among whom over half have obtained senior professional certificates. All the professional teachers under 45 are either PhDs or PhDs candidates.

Many scholars take up various posts such as vice presidents, general directors and directors of various research institutes, members of the standing committee, arbitrators of Arbitration Commission and independent directors. Some of them are also the members on the national bar examination committee.

The faculty has taken over and completed more than 90 research projects assigned by national and local authorities. It has also published more than 260 pieces of writing and textbooks in the past few years.
The school has set up its own websites on economic law (http://www.economiclaw.com) and corporate law consultancy (http://www.corplawinfo.com) They act as an important bridge to the outside world.

Putting emphasis on basic theories, courses of the Economic Law School also strengthen practice and
application with geographical feature in the new era. The school also offers ample space where students can expand their horizons and enlarge their knowledge field.

In addition to the 14 compulsory elementary units in law regulated by the National Education Committee, the school provides its students with many optional courses such as Finance Law, Corporate Law, Labor Law, Taxation Law, Real Estate Law, Competition Law, Applications in Contract Law, Security Law, Environmental Law, Insurance Law, Negotiable Instrument Law and Analysis of Commercial Cases.
