NUS-ECUPL Master of Laws (International Business Law)

The Faculty of law of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the East China University of Politics and Law (ECUPL) jointly launched the Master of Laws (International Business Law) degree programme in Shanghai in July 2005.

This specialist degree programme, which is taught in English, is the first overseas degree programme and the fifth specialist LL.M programme offered by the NUS Faculty of Law. Students who successfully complete the degree requirements will obtain an LL.M (International Business Law) degree conferred by NUS. Other specialist degree programmes currently offered by the NUS Law Faculty are in Corporate and Financial Services Law, Intellectual Property and Technology Law, International and Comparative Law, and Chinese Law.

The NUS Faculty of Law is widely regarded as one of the leading global law schools. It has been at the forefront of curriculum developments to make legal education more international and comparative in orientation. Staffed by an outstanding international faculty with degrees from leading law schools from more than a dozen jurisdictions, NUS faculty in the law school continue to make an impact internationally with their teaching and research.

A student will need to read a total of 10 subjects in the programme. They are Common Law Reading & Writing (In Singapore), Common Law of Obligations,Comparative Corporations Law, International Banking Law, International Commercial Arbitration, International and comparative Law of Sale, International Corporate Finance, International Investment Law, International Tax Law, Transnational Commercial Law. Students will be able to study these subjects under the guidance of leading faculty members from NUS.

While the students are in Singapore, the NUS Faculty of Law will use its best endeavours to secure internship places for 2-week period in the Supreme Court of Singapore, the Singapore Subordinate Courts, and the famous law firms.
