| The School of International
Law, adhering to the education policy of facing world,
facing future and facing modernization, devotes itself
to serving our country's economic construction and yields
a lot in the development of discipline, research, cultivating
students and administration. As early as 1996, International
law was awarded key discipline of the Ministry of Justice
|

| and Shanghai Municipality. In 1998,
it was appraised the authority to offer LLD programs
(major of international law), the first one in east
China by China and began to offer courses for doctor
candidates. In 2003, it began to enroll post doctors
of international law.
The school has a faculty of 46 staff
including 8 professors, 7 supervisors of doctoral programs,
13 associate professors and 21 supervisors of master
programs. And 90% of them had overseas experience of
pursuing a degree or further education in Europe, England
and America. The staff has published more than 150 textbooks,
writings, dictionaries and assortments, some of which
provide some completely new ideas in the field both
home and abroad. In 2003, the International Economic
Law is awarded "Elite Courses in Shanghai".
The staff participated in revising and proving nearly
10 important national laws. They also engage in drafting,
proving and revising local laws and regulations of Shanghai,
which is thought highly by the related governmental
bodies. They also play an important role in the judicial
practice.More than 10 teachers are the arbitrators of
various government agencies and more than 30 teachers
are part-time lawyers. More than 30 of our staff obtained
the national and Shanghai's awards and honor titles.

The school invites experts in law and
professors from Europe and America to offer lectures to
undergraduate students and postgraduate students. It also
sends lecturers of our school abroad either for teaching
or refresher courses. Our school has established formal
partnership with overseas schools such as Law School of
University of San Francisco, U.S. and Erasmus University
Rotterdam. In 1999, its Reference Room is awarded "The
United Nations Documents Collecting library", obtaining
the newest books and materials on international law from
the United Nations every year. In August 2005, the United
Nations International law institute chief, the general
judge, Shi Jiuyong visited the school.

| The school recommends and
selects nearly 20% of the undergraduatesĦĦand the graduatesĦĦto
go abroad to further their studies or pursue a degree
every year on average. In 2005, the school cooperated
with the Hong Kong City University to cultivate undergraduate
students together, and successfully recruited the first
international class of four-year program. In 2004, the
team composed by the staff and students of the school
won the second place in the "Jessup international
law simulated court competition" in Chinese contest
area, and they went to Washington to participate in the
global contest in the finals on behalf of China. The international
law school's all previous graduates obtain the social
recognition with its prominent foreign language proficiency
and the international law specialized knowledge. With
China joining in the WTO, the demand of professionals
in the field of international law is increasing everyday.
