School of
Criminal Justice is an affiliated school of ECUPL. It's
the only teaching unit in east China that offers programs
in public security for higher education. The School of
Criminal Justice offers 3 undergraduate courses: the major
of reconnaissance study (including the major of economic
reconnaissance and criminal reconnaissance), the major
of public security and frontier defense management. It
also offers 4 LLM programs in reconnaissance, judicial
verification, criminal justice and juvenile delinquency.

| At
present, the School of Criminal Justice boasts an excellent
faculty of more than 40 staff and more than 800 students.
The staff-student ratio is reasonable. There are 15 professors
or associate professors (accounting for over 65% of the
total professional teachers) who enjoy good reputation
in their fields. Some professors are experts in reconnaissance
study and criminal justice. |

Some are praised as expert
consultants by Shanghai Judicial Verification Expertise
Committee. Furthermore, the school recruited many well-known
experts as part-time professors from judicature practice
department in Shanghai and east China.
The faculty of the school has yielded
abundant results in scientific researches. In the past
few years, it has published and compiled a good number
of specialized books, reference books, textbooks and
several hundred papers. Reconnaissance Study is awarded
with the title "Elite Course of the university"
and other 8 courses such as Economic Crime Game Theory
and Judicial Verification have been regarded as the
university¡¯s key disciplines. The school stands out
in schools of its kind nationally and is responsible
for the compilation of Criminal Justice Encyclopedia
and also intends to publish 100 pieces of writing.

School of criminal justice
is a mature research base and has 3 internal journals
including Crime Investigation, Juvenile Crimes and Delinquency
and Investigation on comprehensive control (internal journal).
It has 9 research centers such as Shanghai Research Institute
of Comprehensive Control of Social Security, the Research
Institute of Juvenile Delinquency and also 2 verification
organizations, namely Judicial Verification Center and
Center of Measurement of ECUPL, as branch center of East
China Center of Measurement. Taking advantage of these
verification organizations, the faculty applies expertise
to law enforcement. For instance, it completes a lot of
forensic analysis and physical evidence verification.
By doing so, it collects a huge amount of data, which
are useful to enrich the content of teaching and improve
the quality of teaching. It has solved many difficult
problems in judicial practice and got a high opinion from
more than 20 provincial and municipal judicial organizations
all over the country.

School
of Criminal Justice boasts first-class facilities and
all the necessary teaching equipment. The new laboratory
in the Songjiang Campus has recently been built. The detached
three-floor lab building has labs for criminal photography,
trace verification, file verification and forensic analysis.
The new lab will receive a financial aid of more than
26,000,000 yuan from the National |
Treasury. It will purchase
advanced equipment, which will provide a good environment
for teaching and research.
During the past few years, School
of Criminal Justice has played an important role in
exploring the new school operating methods. It deepens
the cooperation with the higher educational institutions
in the U.S.A. and U.K. It has attained great achievements,
among which the cooperation with Sam Houston State University
has been put into practice. We will jointly culture
professional talents who can meet the international
requirements. |
